Obviously anyone who gets a denial is going to be upset. I am more frustrated with the constant swapping of genders for my doctors, and misspelled words. I am more frustrated that the 5th doctor they went to ignored my symptoms of today with information from three years ago. I am more frustrated that if any doctor used the words “limits” or “struggles” all their findings were determined to be “not persuasive” but the psychiatrist who presented reasons based on my health and said boldly “cannot work” was declared “inherently neither valuable nor persuasive.” If there was never a chance at an approval, why string me along for three years? If the plan was to keep presenting the case to different guys with Ph.Ds until one said no, why not just have the judge say it. Why have a vocational doctor be in the hearing, have him say that under any circumstance unique to my condition I could not work, just to ignore his statement and NOT EVEN INCLUDE IT IN THE DECISION LETTER. Why tell me “I’ll have this done in two weeks.” When you were going to wait the typical four and slap together a somehow still hastily written decision. Less than 20% of people with autism alone are able to hold a full time job. I thought I was lucky to be one of the few with some faculties and the ability to articulate my thoughts, but apparently that did end up being my undoing. I expect a level of professionalism from someone hold the livelihood of individuals in their hand. I got a level of arrogance who scoffed at the DTA, MassHealth, a therapist, a vocational doctor, and two Ph.D holders within Social Security, just so he could find someone to deny me. I know it’s not personal, but when someone goes to those lengths, it’s hard to not take it that way.
